PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Library advocates form new coalition

The Providence Journal reports:

Resigned to their role as outsiders, library advocates announced a new coalition yesterday that will conduct its own parallel analysis of the Providence Public Library's operation and the library's future.

Members of the Library Reform Group, Mount Pleasant Friends of the Library, Smith Hill Friends and Save Our Branches have been shut out of the municipal working group, a team that will negotiate a contract between the city and library for library services....
Karen McAninch, the business manager of the union that represents library workers is a member of the coalition. [Providence Public Library Union].
