A number of teachers and staff will be looking for work elsewhere today as the San Mateo Union High School District approved $3.5 million in budget cuts Thursday including the layoff of 12.4 teachers and 36.1 school staff.
Among the cuts are a 3 percent salary rollback, $5,717, for Superintendent Sam Johnson, two full-time librarians totaling $104,395, six teachers totaling $313,186.50 and five special education teachers who filled 4.4 positions and were let go earlier this month. A total of 36.1 classified staff were laid off.
