"A fair agreement recognizing the excellent work of the professors and librarians is in the long-term best interests of the students and of the institution as a whole."
The province has appointed conciliator Jacques Lessard in the labour dispute between Universite Sainte-Anne and its faculty and library staff.
The union comprising the teachers and librarians said in a release it has been without a contract since June 30, 2004 and has been negotiating since early April 2005.
Three weeks ago the staff voted 98 per cent in favour of striking.
Between the beginning of August and Sept. 18, the university agreed to just one negotiating session, said the release.
But after 36 meetings there is still no agreement on issues such as salaries, teaching loads, maternity leave, online courses and cross-sector teaching, said the union.
