Union leaders in Seattle like Hildreth

Susan Hildreth, California state librarian, has been selected as Seattle's new city librarian.
Union leaders in Seattle like Hildreth because of her experience working for a similar system with a strong central library in San Francisco, said Linda Saunto, a librarian who served on the hiring committee as a representative of AFSCME (American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees) Local 2083, which represents 500 library employees.

"We're not always going to agree, but we've got to be able to talk to each other and bring those differences to the attention of the city librarian," she said. "I'm feeling really hopeful about this."
